It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Totara College website.
Hi, I’m Dr Peter Ferrar and I’m thrilled to be the new principal of Totara College in Dannevirke. This is my 4th school as principal and I’m also an education consultant, senior leadership coach and trained Biochemist (hence the Dr part). Totara is a special school and a hidden gem. Only 60 students and yet we have 25 staff, so the class sizes are small and education is individualised. We have good sized grounds and effective resources. The school is very safe and caring and we cater for students from Year 0-13 (5 to 18 year olds). We have a Christian flavour and teach our kids good character through the lens of our 4 values: Kindness, Respect, Integrity and Diligence. We offer a modern education which increasingly is focussed on students growing in their own skills and talents to become effective citizens who are well equipped to face the world.
